There is no love like self love. 💜 I’m hones There is no love like self love. 💜

I’m honestly in shock at what I’ve endured the past few months. Three very different relationships (from past and present) have hurt me in three very different ways in a short time. And so unexpectedly. I could not make this stuff up.

I’m just grateful I have a strong foundation from many years of therapy. I am not perfect, but I’ve done enough self work to love and value myself, that I feel a bit like Wonder Woman. These lethal bullets are bouncing off my lasso of truth!

This stuff is so heavy, and along with the insanity of 2020/2021…that I’m honestly a little surprised I haven’t gone back to my eating disorder or developed some other unhealthy addiction and/or depression. I’m angry and hurt, but I’m quite mentally okay and still optimistic.

It’s been years since I stopped therapy, because my foundation makes me resilient. I cannot emphasize the importance of hard, introspective self work and growth. Hurt people hurt people. Don’t be one of them.

Da Poke Shack - Poke Bowl w/ shack special, pele's kiss, and edamame & wild rice salad

Napua - Poke appetizer, taegu, kimchi, avocado, seaweed salad

We are all going through stuff. And most of it isn We are all going through stuff. And most of it isn’t obvious on the surface. So please lead with kindness first. Especially during the holiday season when tensions are high. Lead with more kindness.

It is easy to shame and finger point. But what productive good are you doing when you lead this way? When you lead with spite, you are coming from a place of hurt. Self-reflect and then have an empathetic dialog if you truly think you have productive (and not just hurtful) feedback for the other person.

I was looking forward to our second annual “orphan’s by choice” Christmas together with @ashpoteto, but we canceled plans to be cautious.

With covid isolation going on so long, we are taking calculated risks as inherently social creatures. Staying home 24/7 for months is a mental health risk too. No one is perfect. Humans are not robots (as much as I wish I were sometimes!)

I’m spending Christmas alone - physically and mentally. That is how I heal myself. To those that are isolated, but heal first through people, stay strong today. Here is a virtual hug and visual hug (second photo). This pandemic isn’t going to go on forever. We will be able to laugh, sing, cry, and breathe on each other someday again.
