How to Fold a Wonton – Happy Lunar New Year!
Today is the first day of Lunar New Year (LNY). LNY is observed in much of Eastern Asia. My relatives in Taiwan get nine(!) days off, and festivities can last over three weeks. Like Thanksgiving in theContinue reading

I’m terrified of injections, but at 37 I’m startin I’m terrified of injections, but at 37 I’m starting to explore Botox alternatives. Enter cosmetic acupuncture.

Ultra-thin needles are gently placed to relax facial muscles, increase blood flow, and stimulate collagen. It’s a whole body approach, so I got some needles on my hands and feet too.

Then I chilled for 25 minutes with red light therapy.
Total session time was about an hour with zero downtime.

This clip is right after the needles came out, and you can see the redness is mostly faded.

For someone who hates needles, I would actually do this again. Minimal discomfort and my face did feel more glowy and refreshed the next day.

I saw Jeannie at Haven Acupuncture in the Mission, and she recommends a full 12 sessions for best results.

2016 trend. I got engaged and most of my pics were 2016 trend. I got engaged and most of my pics were with my ex. 😆 So here are some fav dishes I ate ten years ago. Cool to see the majority of these spots still open and thriving!

And yay for food and travel being constant when so much else about my life has changed. 🙌🏼 I started my blog willwanderforfood.com the year prior in 2015, and I was taking most of my food photos with a compact camera then.

Mushroom lovers, this one’s for you. SF’s most ov Mushroom lovers, this one’s for you.

SF’s most over-the-top dining experience is back with their popular mushroom series.

You start with mushroom tea, then step into an enchanted forest setting. Foraged bites kick things off, like a shiitake “shiitaco” and pickled morel gnomes.

The details are next level.

A hidden treasure chest opens to a savory button mushroom cheesecake.

A slider with pulled king trumpet comes wrapped in mushroom origami paper.

Then table-side charcoal grills fire smoky oyster mushrooms, served over rice porridge, finished with shaved black truffle and chicken skin dashi.

And dessert? A mini fairy house complete with edible stones, dragon’s beard brownie, and even hidden candy cap cannelés.

We also got a preview of their new speakeasy, Bar Orso. Their signature cocktail features house fernet, foraged soda, and a candied pine cone.

Truly one of the most fun dinners I’ve had in SF.

Merchant Roots’ mushroom experience runs through the end of February, and they even have limited vegetarian and gluten-free evenings.

It’s easy to chase what’s shiny and new. In 2026, It’s easy to chase what’s shiny and new. In 2026, I’m also chasing what survived. What defines San Francisco.

Starting with Aziza. They opened in 2001 in the Richmond district and would become the first Michelin-starred Moroccan restaurant in the US.

With chef Mourad back in the kitchen, this is the version of Aziza you want to experience.

Think incredible dips like lebni and smoked trout roe, the iconic flaky basteeya filled with chicken or duck confit, cheesy loaded mussels, and my new favorite cornbread with harissa butter.

Bring friends for their family style entrees like the heritage roast chicken. Or bring a date and slip into the elegant back bar.

I hear brunch is great too. I’ll be back for that.
