Surprise Birthday Trip – Dinner at Alinea 2.0 and Drinks at The Aviary
I had a grand total of one birthday party as a kid and it was a joint celebration months ahead of my actual birthday. I'm also not one to expect extravagant gestures. Having said that,Continue reading

Happy year of the horse! 🧨 🌹 🥟 Rose-shaped dumpl Happy year of the horse! 🧨 🌹 🥟

Rose-shaped dumpling wrapper recipe
- 2 cups AP Flour
- 3/4 cup hot water
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 to 2 tsp beet root powder (optional color)

1. In a large bowl, mix together flour and salt. Slowly add hot water and mix until it starts getting clumpy. Hand knead the dough until smooth. Divide into two equal parts and let rest for 15 minutes.

2. Take one of the dough halves and add beet root powder. The color will fade once heated, so make it deeper than you prefer. Knead the dough until color is incorporated.

3. Roll the two dough halves into two logs, approximately 1” diameter each. Then roll the pink dough into a flat rectangle shape, wide enough to wrap around the plain dough. Place the plain dough on the pink dough, wrap it completely, and pinch to seal the free edge.

4. Cut the combined log into sections, about 3/4” thick, aiming for 32 sections. Roll each section into a flat circle, the thinner the better, about 4” diameter.

5. Working with 4 circles at a time, lay them in a line side-by-side, and overlap each slightly, using water to glue the overlap.

6. In the middle of each circle, add 2 tsp each of your preferred filling (I used pork belly and scallion). Wet the top halves of each wrapper, and fold them in half so you have four connected semi-circles.

7. Starting from one end, roll the semi-circles to form a rose shape. Tuck the free edge into the base. Repeat with remaining wrappers.

8. Place dumplings in steamer basket and steam for 12 minutes over boiling water.

Super Bowl week in SF. Longest half week of my lif Super Bowl week in SF. Longest half week of my life, and I only made it to two events. 😅

I also finally watched Heated Rivalry, and I have joined the mass psychosis now.

I’m exhausted but also more hopeful again. Much needed after January. 💜

People are saying this is Tulum in SF. Hot take, People are saying this is Tulum in SF.
Hot take, I hate Tulum. But I actually loved the vibes here.

This does feel like something we don’t have much of in San Francisco. They transformed the Old Spaghetti Factory location.

Equal Parts is tropical, lush, sexy, and with good drinks and food as well.

We sat in the heated, covered back patio, and celebrated my girl friend’s birthday.

Some highlights were the whole branzino with brown butter and the roasted octopus.

And they are open til 2am Friday and Saturday.

We need more spots like this in SF, just like we need more Hollanov. 🙃

This new SF rooftop venue isn’t even open yet…but This new SF rooftop venue isn’t even open yet…but the preview party was insane.

We kicked off Super Bowl week with a sneak peek of Dante’s Inferno, an upcoming rooftop bar, supper club, and nightclub.

Owner Dante went all out for the preview with a stacked DJ lineup including DJ Pee .Wee, aka Anderson .Paak, plus surprise guest Too $hort. We danced our asses off.

Even the cocktails were on theme, named after the seven deadly sins.

The upcoming multi-story concept on Market Street will feature Jamaican and Italian-inspired dishes, live music, and multiple bars.

They are bringing the tropical heat to San Francisco and we can’t wait.
